Feeding A Family Of Six For One Cent!

Good Morning America
this morning featured a mother who feeds her family on about $4 a week.  Sounds crazy but it's true.

Principles applied by this family are to buy on whats on sale, use manufacturer and store coupons.  The most unique thing on her site is how she splits up a pound of meat into quarters to make her coupons work better.  Check it out for youself!

If your not using coupons or think they don't work this is a great article to read.  Most people are not so thorough with their coupons but it makes us all think we could try a little harder to save more money on our groceries.  I challenge you to set a budget for your groceries and stick to it.  Using cash will help you stick to this plan.  We spend $40 per week on groceries.

Are You Throwing Away Money?

Now I'm sure no one intentionally throws away money but do you remember to mail in all of your rebates?  Mailing in rebates is one of my bigger procrastinations.  So far in the last 6 months I have earned three rebates and today I am mailing out the first one!  Often when you buy a years worth of contact lenses you are eligible for money back if you mail in the rebate forms.  This alone is $50 that I've been putting off sine June!  Why do we put off mailing rebates?  For me I tell myself that tomorrow I will round up the envelope, stamp, and upc codes, but tomorrow never comes.  It seems like a hassle to even cut the upc codes.  I have missed the date on the other two rebates I had coming and have now lost about $50 there.  Here are a few tips for you and me to start mailing those rebates faster and quit throwing away money!

1.)  Remember the rebate is still a part of your purchase/shopping trip.  When you get home do this right away and put the envelope right in the mailbox.

2.)  If you cannot stop what your doing to mail your rebate right away set one a day week that you quit procrastinating and get things done.  www.Flylady.net ,a website that helps you organize your house, schedules your Anti-procrastinaton Day on wednesdays.  Lucky for us today is wednesday.  Mail your rebates and tackle a couple other things you've been putting off.

3.)  Make sure you are stocked on envelopes and stamps.

4.) Organize your desk drawer so these items are easily reachable!
